Stacy’s solid walk with God started at a very young age serving youth and young adults, helping them find and build their personal relationships with God. Growing up her parents Rev. Dr. Luther J. McSwain and Ether Ree McSwain, raised their children to believe and always trust in the Lord. Pastor Gray, was born into a family of Pastor's, Preachers, Singers, Musicians, Lyricists, Author's, Play writers, Actors & Actresses Etc.... So, it was only natural by the age of (3) three years old she would sing her first solo entitled " I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS WORLD IS COMING TO". Throughout the years Pastor Gray, has cultivated her singing talents alongside her siblings which at that time was Rev. Frank L. McSwain, Sr. and the youth at the Sunlight M.B. Church, where her father was the pastor. As a young adult Pastor Gray, realized she was called by GOD and anointed to reach souls through gospel music. In 1992 she began her music ministry and soon became one of the most sought after lead three decades. vocalists on the gospel choir scene, with a career that spans over three decades. Pastor Gray, has sung with number's of renowned artist in the gospel industry including: Chicago Mass Choir, Percy Gray and Praise 2 Choir, Chapter, Jessie Dixon, Reeds Temple Choir and her heart of ALL the choirs 2 times STELLAR AWARDS WINNING "NEW DIRECTION" which is the choir her husband Jeral V. Gray, Sr. is the founder for 30 years.

She moved to Lexington KY in 1994 where she became a member of New Hope Christian Center, under the Pastor’s James & Gloria Smith. She preached her trial sermon in 1996. She was licensed as a minister in 1997 and ordained in 1999. She received leadership and pastoral training for over 14 years. Daisy married her soul mate, Joshua Brown, in March 2000. She is a proud mother of three beautiful children, Porscha, Victorie, Josiah. She received her Associates Degree in Business Management, from Lexington Community College and a Bachelor in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. She has completed her Master’s in social work for U of K. She is owner of a private practice,The Champion Therapy Center L. L.C. where she is the lead therapist. She is the executive director of a Nonprofit, called, The Champion Therapy Corporation. Daisy knew God had called her to be a minister of the gospel early in her saved life and has been willing to accept the call at the appointed time. Her favorite scriptures are Luke 10:2-3 Therefore he said unto them, the harvest is truly great, but the labors are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest. Her family moved to Kentucky in the late 1980s and Kentucky has been home ever since. She attended the University of Kentucky and received her undergraduate degree in History and Political Science with a Minor in Vocal Music Performance in 1998. Additionally, she received her Juris Doctor from the J. David Rosenberg College of Law at UK in 2001. She is firm believer in the words of Shirley Chisolm, that “service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth”. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Chrysalis House, the CHI St. Joseph Health Board; a member of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence and she has recently completed 2 terms as the Chairwoman of the Statewide Child Fatality and Near Fatality External Review Board. In July 2020, Melissa was appointed by Mayor Linda Gorton to serve on the Commission for Racial Justice and Equality, specifically on the Law Enforcement, Justice, and Accountability Subcommittee. She is a member of the Central Kentucky Chapter of Jack and Jill, where she serves as the Legislative Chair and Chaplain. Melissa is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. In April 2020, Melissa was appointed to the vacant Fayette District Court seat by Governor Andy Beshear in April of 2020. Since her appointment, Judge Murphy was elected in November 2020 and re-elected in November 2022 as the 4th Division District Court Judge where she serves the citizens of Fayette County. Her service on the bench includes co-chairing the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Alternative Committee. She has been appointed to serve on the Kentucky Mental Health Commission and the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board. Her greatest honor is the creation of the first Juvenile Treatment Court with her judicial colleague Judge Lindsay Hughes Thurston. Juvenile Treatment Court’s mission is to focus on the overall wellness of our court connected young people, by using an integrated approach involving court supervision, mental health treatment and services, education, and personal accountability. Judge Murphy started her legal career as a Staff Attorney for the Honorable Judge Rebecca M. Overstreet. In 2002, she became a criminal prosecutor. For over a decade, she had the opportunity to work on every level of the prosecutorial system. She served as an Assistant Fayette County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Assistant McCracken County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Assistant Fayette County Attorney, and a Special Assistant United States’ Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky. In 2014, she continued her legal career in public service when she joined the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government’s (LFUCG) Law Department as a Senior Attorney. Judge Murphy is an ordained minister of the Gospel and member of Consolidated Baptist Church in Lexington, KY, where she serves as an associate minister and a member of the Voices of Consolidated and Unity Choir. Judge Murphy was inducted into the Atherton High School Hall Fame in Louisville, Kentucky in 2006, named a McCracken County Alben W. Barkley Distinguished Citizen in 2007, selected the Distinguished Leader for the 2015-16 Commerce Lexington Leadership Lexington Class, and received the 2019 NAMI Volunteer Excellence Award and the 2020 NAMI Wings Award. Most recently, she has been named the Fayette County Bar Women Lawyers Association 2020 Woman of the Year and one of the Kentucky Gazette’s 2020 Notable Women in Kentucky Politics and Government. Of all her accomplishments and responsibilities, her greatest joy and calling is being mom of Terrance, Makari, and Micah. She is married to Danny Murphy, Jr., the Senior Assistant Dean of Community Engagement and Operations/Chief Diversity Officer at the UK College of Law, and along with parenting their three children, they are also grandparents to Trenton Anthony.
